Introduction to Back Links
In simple terms Search Engine Optimisation
(getting your site higher on search engines) comes down to 2 things
- On site optimisation (changes to your own
site)
- Off site linking - Getting unique one way
links to your site from directories etc - Google in particularly
counts these as votes as to how good your site is, working on the
simple theory that if people are linking to your site - it must be
worthwhile
How to check how many people currently
link to your site
Go to Google
and do a search for your site - ie enter your domain name "www.yourname.com"
(put it inside a pair of quotes too). In this
example
I have search for a company called One World Tours "www.oneworldtours.co.uk" |
|
One World Tours have (approx) 3,670 links in
to it - these all help it in its rankings.
|
As a result of this - if you
search
for Holidays in Egypt and Jordan on Google - you will find One
World Tours is number one on page one.
Now we are not for ONE SECOND, promising
that if you create back links to your site, that you will get to
position one on Google, but it certainly will help your rankings.
What exactly are backlinks ? |
|

|
Back Links are links into your site from
other sites (in this case web directories).
How do we get these links?
Very simply, by hand we submit your site to
around 500 Web Directories - It's time consuming, but it is the best
way to get your sites number of back links up.

So what next ?
Go to Google and search for your domain
name (again in Quotes) - If you find that you only have 20 or 30
results - then you really need to think about getting links to
your site
